New Approaches to Human Deception: Insights, Findings, and Applications of Information Manipulation Theory 2 and Truth-Default Theory

Two theories of deceptive communication, information manipulation theory 2 and truth-default theory are summarized, integrated, and distinguished from previous theoretical perspectives. Supportive empirical evidence is provided and the authors discuss points of convergence. Two relevant programs of research are discussed providing applications cutting across cultures and contexts.
