Flipping the Script: Using Racialized Experiences at Predominantly White Institutions to Interrogate Classic Models of Psychological Theories

Within higher education, Black individuals experience microaggressions and struggle with feelings of disconnectedness to their university. Furthermore, in Predominantly White Institutions (PWI), they often feel pressured to overwork themselves as they battle racialized expectations surrounding their academic capabilities. We address issues of belonging, stereotype management, and linguistic prejudice in PWI’s.
