New Directions in Social Norms Research: Motivation, Polarization and Social Networks Shape Norm Perceptions and Behavior
Social norms demonstrably affect behaviors in myriad contexts, including domains relevant to urgent societal problems. How they do this is less clear. This symposium showcases new research enriching our knowledge of how norms perceptions are shaped, dynamics by which norms change, and the role of motivation in mobilizing collective action.
