Language As a Window into the Social Mind

Saturday, May 28, 2022 · Chicago, IL

Oral · General

Analyses of massive language corpora provide a rare window into the attitudes, beliefs, and social representations from a certain time and place. This symposium demonstrates such discoveries through studies of word meaning across 2500 languages, hate speech in contemporary online forums, and stereotypes in book text spanning 200 years.
