The Ratio of Black Faces in the Crowd Is Positively Associated with Perception of Emotion

Abstract

We show that the proportion of Black faces in the crows is associated with the propensity to evaluate those crowds as emotional. Diffusion decision models revealed people accumulate greater evidence for emotional inferences based on the Black faces in the crowd, irrespective of the intensity and valence of expression.
