Individual Differences in Loneliness and Depression Modulate the Neural Response to Social Rejection

Virtual

Oral · Neuroscience

We investigated whether loneliness and depression moderate the neural response to negative social feedback. For negative compared to positive feedback, higher depression and loneliness corresponded with increased activity in regions linked to salience detection and episodic memory, and loneliness uniquely corresponded with increased activity in regions linked to mentalizing.
