Communication and the Emergence of Collective Intelligence in Virtual Teams

Communication is believed to improve collective intelligence by facilitating the sharing of diverse ideas. In our virtual teamwork experiment, teams performed better than their median team member but performed no differently than their best team member. We are exploring the role communication plays in the emergence of this collective intelligence.
