Donating to a Charity or Babysitting a Friend’s Child: U.S. American Social Class Disparities in What Counts As a Social Contribution
Two studies suggest U.S. cultural understandings of what counts as a social good privilege practices common among those with higher social class standing (e.g., giving money, helping distant others) and devalue forms more common among those with lower social class positioning (e.g., emotional support, helping close others).
