Social Media Addiction Predicts Excessively Valuing Happiness in Adolescents

Virtual

Oral · Developmental Psychology

Although excessively valuing happiness (VH) is a risk for depression, no study has reported on what predicts VH. With 219 adolescents’ data (52% girls; Mage=15.10 years, SD=0.49), we found that adolescents who reported being more addicted to social media reported higher VH levels 7 months later (while covarying earlier VH).
