Can the Social Network Bridge Social Distancing? Social Media Use during the COVID-19 Pandemic

We examined the impact of social media on the self during the initial lockdowns (April-May 2020) of the Covid-19 pandemic. More time on social media was associated with greater feelings of social connection, which in turn suppressed the otherwise negative association between social media use and well-being.
