Coping with COVID-19: Testing the Stress-Sensitization Hypothesis Among Adults with a History of Adverse Childhood Experiences

Virtual

Oral · Developmental Psychology

‘Stress sensitization’ hypothesis suggests that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may sensitize individuals to negative reactions to later life-stressors. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this theory was applied among young adults with a history of ACEs. Results support the association between ACEs, emotion dysregulation, and COVID-related stress on current depressive symptoms.
