The Contribution of Communication Competence and Gender to the Quality of Leader-Subordinate Work Relationship

Considering the importance of communication in leadership, relatively little research has been devoted to this issue. This study (N = 990) revealed the positive role of communication competence on Leader-Member Exchange and trust, as well as females’ higher perceived communication competence, which contributes to better leader-subordinate relationships.
