Demonstrating the Speed, Spontaneity, and Robustness of Racial Bias in Pain Perception

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

Racial bias in the visual perception of pain is not attenuated by cognitive load, is observed under rapid presentation conditions, and persists even when (ambiguous) self-reported pain experience was provided. These data suggest this bias occurs automatically, based on minimal visual input, and above and beyond other diagnostic information.
