Based on Billions of Words on the Internet, “People = Men”
By “people” do you actually mean men? We used tools from computational linguistics to show that words for people (e.g., people) have more similar distributed meanings to words for men (e.g., male) than women (e.g., female). We also found a striking asymmetry for gender stereotypes consistent with “people = men.”
