The Role of Parental Math Beliefs on Math Competency in African American School Children

Virtual

Oral · Developmental Psychology

The role of parental beliefs on forty African American school age children’s math performance was examined through parental questionnaires and children math assessments. Finding suggests that parental math self efficacy, but not self-efficacy in general predicts children’s math performance. Suggestions are offered for math intervention programs for African American families.
