Political Differences in Social Threat Perception
Using a computerized task assessing adults’ ability to identify others’ emotion, we show that political attitudes are uniquely associated with variability in the identification of emotions associated with social threat. Specifically, conservative ideology and negative attitudes regarding immigration are related to poorer recognition of anger and fear.
