When Hurricane Damage Stimulates Prosocial Behavior and Perceived Social Support: Consequences for Psychological Functioning

Virtual

Oral · Clinical Science

In this prospective study, I present evidence that serious hurricane exposure is linked to prosocial behavior and favorable perceptions of support among a large sample (N = 4232). In addition, prosocial behavior and support perceptions mediated a beneficial effect of severe exposure (flooding and property damage) on psychological functioning.
