Judging Out-Party Political Attitudes

Virtual

Oral · Political Psychology

Using the truth and bias model of judgment, we found that both Democrats’ and Republicans’ judgments of opposing partisans’ political attitudes are influenced by the ingroup negative projection (bias). On the other hand, Republicans’ judgments of Democrats’ political attitudes are more strongly influenced by reality (truth) than vice versa.
