Emotionally Expressive Interdependence in Latin America: Triangulating through a Comparison of Three Cultural Regions
Cultural psychology has largely focused on East Asians and concluded that emotion suppression is a key tendency linked to interdependence. Here, we challenge this conclusion and show that in another interdependent group, Latin Americans, emotional expression serves the key function of interdependence. Implications for the theories of culture are discussed.
