Depends on the Conspiracy: Type and Degree of Conspiracy Theory Endorsement Is Dependent on Need for Cognitive Closure, Schizotypy, and Social Identity.

The present research investigated need for closure, in-group identification, schizotypy, and diversity of conspiracy theory beliefs. Using an MTurk survey of 310 Americans, we found schizotypy predicted all belief in all conspiracies, while the degree of endorsement varied depending on the interacting effects of need for closure and social identity.
