Modes As Cohesive Personality States: Theoretical Underpinnings and Empirical Examples
Modes are state-like manifestations of personality, functioning as cohesive organizational units characterized by specific co-activated affects, behaviors, cognitions, and desires. They are central to numerous psychological theories, yet only contemporary methods allow studying them empirically. We present dynamic network and factor analytic models of modes and discuss future research directions.
