Weight Stigma By Association Among Parents of Children with Obesity
In a randomized experiment, we tested whether parents of children with obesity were themselves judged negatively, indicating weight stigma by association. Participants (N = 1,862) rated parents of children with (vs. without) obesity as less effective parents. Parents with (vs. without) obesity were rated as less helpful and less effective.
