Embedding Cognitive and Metacognitive Prompts in an Online STEM Lecture.
This research investigated the effectiveness of embedded prompts in an online physics lecture. Across two studies, participants were randomly assigned to a lecture embedded with cognitive prompts, metacognitive prompts, or no prompts. Results supported the use of cognitive prompts for first-year learners, but not for advanced students.
