Testing the Benefits of True/False Tests before and after Learning

Virtual

Oral · Cognitive Psychology

Across three experiments, we explore differences between the effects of true/false pre- and post-tests on learning correct information and false intrusion rates. We find consistent benefits of both pretesting and posttesting, but significantly higher intrusion rates as a result of posttesting than pretesting, a finding that persists even with feedback.
