How Does Group Membership Modulate Inference of Mental States?

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

We investigated the impact of group membership on mental state inference via a modified minimal groups paradigm. As hypothesized, significant ingroup bias emerged in the selection of mental state (versus behavioral) descriptions; however, this bias was substantially attenuated for the endorsement of plausible candidate descriptions for ingroup (versus outgroup) targets.
