Evaluations of Potential School Shooters: How Intersectional Stereotypes Influence Predictions of Future Dangerousness

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

Intersectionality theory can help explain how multiple group identities bias institutional decision making. The current study explored whether a group prototype (school shooters) influenced interpretation of evidence in the context of competing stereotypes and predictive behavior. Results indicate that behavior plays an important role in weighting evidence for threat assessment.
