Emoji Bias: Stronger Negative Attribution to Negative Emojis Among the Lonely.

Virtual

Oral · Cognitive Psychology

Differences in perceived valence when reading text-only and emoji-only text messages were examined between high and low loneliness individuals. Accuracy performance declined considerably when participants interpreted negative or neutrally valenced messages. High loneliness individuals perceived negative messages containing emojis as more negative than those low in loneliness.
