Tugging the Gap: Applying the Anchoring Effect to the CEO-Worker Pay Gap Ratio

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

Through two studies we tested the anchoring effect on individuals’ preferences concerning the CEO-worker pay gap ratio. In Study 2, presenting participants with a high anchor led them to indicate higher pay gaps as ideal and acceptable. A third, pre-registered study comparing cognitive vs. motivational factors is currently in progress.
