The Relationship between Hate and Threat across Political and Ideological Groups

Identifying attitudes and perceptions involved with hate is crucial in order to prevent the destructive consequences of hate. We found in two samples that threat is more strongly correlated with hate than perceptions of humanness or morality. Identifying ways to mitigate perceptions of threat may help attenuate hate.
