Operationalizing Child Maltreatment Subtype Using the Maltreatment Classification System: A Mapping Review

Given challenges in operationalizing child maltreatment, we present a mapping review of 156 records that have used the Maltreatment Classification System to examine associations between maltreatment subtypes and outcomes in early and/or middle childhood. Results reveal considerable variation in how subtypes are categorized and analyzed, with implications that we discuss.
