Gender and Cultural Tightness: A New Form of Variation in Cultural Norms

Across three studies, we extend the study of tightness to the culture of gender. We find that women endorse more gender-related norms than men do and rate their gender culture as tighter than men do, as mediated by a higher sense of social threats.
