Exploratory Learning Does Not Reduce the Achievement Gap for Racially Minoritized Students

Virtual

Oral · Experimental Psychology

Despite equal ability, racially minoritized students are underrepresented in STEM disciplines, due to disproportionate performance and dropout. Active learning methods help to reduce this gap. However, we found that exploratory learning (individually solving problems before instruction) benefitted learning overall, but did not reduce this achievement gap.
