How a Psychosocial Stressor Impacts Emotion Recognition Among Adolescents Exposed to Early Life Adversity

Virtual

Oral · Clinical Science

Adolescents exposed to early life adversity may recognize emotions differently. Seventy-seven adolescents completed an emotion recognition task before and after an acute psychosocial stressor. Adolescents exposed to early life adversity had faster reaction times to fearful faces after the stressor. This trait may be adaptive short-term and maladaptive long-term.
