Using Social Cognition Models to Understand Why People Struggle to Respond with Self-Compassion: The Case of Perfectionism

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

A pre-registered longitudinal study examined whether social cognition models can help to explain why some people (e.g., perfectionists) struggle to respond with self-compassion to lapses in goal pursuit. Structural equation modeling showed that negative beliefs about self-compassion and difficulties enacting self-compassion predicted being less likely to respond with self-compassion.
