The Liberating Effect of the Group: Cheating Together Makes Us Feel Less Responsible and Less Guilty.

This experimental study investigated the difference between collective and individual cheating in terms of responsibility and moral emotions. Results revealed that participants who remembered an instance of collective cheating (vs individual cheating and control) felt less responsible, less guilty, and marginally less ashamed than in individual cheating.
