A Status Signaling Account of Maximizing

Virtual

Oral · Consumer Behavior

Our research shows that maximizers are perceived as having greater social status than satisficers. This effect is mediated by perceived agency and influences observers’ choices and advice-seeking. The research contributes an interpersonal perspective to maximizing and a process-based means, specifically how consumers choose, to status signaling through consumption.
