Synthesizing Theoretical Perspectives of Maladaptive Behaviors: A Trans-Diagnostic, Trans-Behavioral Model of Distress Regulation

Virtual

Oral · Clinical Science

Maladaptive behaviors are commonly utilized to down-regulate negative affect, yet understanding of the factors underlying their use is limited. This review will examine and integrate leading theoretical models, to facilitate a trans-diagnostic and trans-behavioral understanding of how and why individuals engage in maladaptive behaviors and propose a new integrative model.
