Children and Adolescents’ Stereotypes and Motivation in STEM and Language Arts

Our findings show how children and adolescents’ gender-interest stereotypes and motivation differ across the domains of STEM and language arts. Children and adolescents report gender-interest stereotypes favoring boys and girls report lower interest in computer science/engineering compared to other fields, corresponding to adult women’s lower participation in computer science/engineering.
