Language Mode in Speech Perception: Assessing Perceptual Representations of Speech Sound in Bilinguals As a Function of Language Context
Using Event-Related Potentials, we investigate how the knowledge of a second language offers bilinguals more opportunities to rely on the linguistic context to represent the speech signal. We found that bilinguals, but not monolinguals, show a top-down effect occurring during the early stages of speech representation.
