Self-Bias in Self-Ratings of Physical Attractiveness

In three studies, self-ratings of physical attractiveness were higher than the scale-midpoint, indicating a self-bias. Self-confidence predicted self-ratings beyond Body Mass Index in the Multiple Identities Study, beyond photo ratings in the Boston Couples Study, and across cultural regions and relationship types in the Intimate Relationships Across Cultures study.
