Active Learning through the Lens of Cognitive Psychology: A Critical Evaluation of Active Learning and a Proposal of Activated Learning
The central instructional tenets of active learning were evaluated based on the science of human cognition and learning. Findings showed these tenets to be effective for expert learners as compared to novice learners. A general framework that addresses the needs of all learners is proposed (called ACTIVATED Learning).
