I’Ve Been Thinkin’ Bout You: When Socially Distant Relationship Pursuit Goes Wrong

Has the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the process of forming a romantic connection? In two studies—a natural experiment and a daily diary study—we explored this possibility. The social ramifications of COVID-19 reduced problematic relationship intentions. However, for certain individuals, particularly those with more negative fantasies, these intentions increased.
