Infant Temperament and Child Psychological Symptoms: The Mediating Role of Maternal Psychological Symptoms
This study examined how infant temperament and maternal psychological symptoms may predict child psychological symptoms. Results indicated that difficult temperament presaged elevated maternal psychological symptoms and subsequently, elevated child symptoms. These findings highlight the importance of understanding how children’s behavior may influence their own and their mother’s mental health outcomes.
