Orthorexia Nervosa and Executive Dysfunction: Symptomatology Is Related to Difficulties with Behavioral Regulation

Utilizing an online survey, the present study investigated associations between orthorexia nervosa and deficits in executive function. All executive function subscales significantly correlated with total orthorexia score, even after controlling for demographics and comorbidities. Strongest associations were deficits in set shifting, inhibition, emotional control, and self-monitoring.
