Parents’ Perceptions of Young Children’s Minds Are Associated with Their Interest in and Behavior Toward Their Own Child

Virtual

Oral · Cognitive Psychology

Across two samples of parents of young children (337 parents total), we present evidence that parents’ perceptions of young children’s cognitive, emotional, and perceptual capacities are associated with their parenting behavior. Moreover, this association is statistically mediated by parents’ interest and curiosity in their own young child’s mental states.
