Faculty Gatekeepers: An Expectancy-Value-Cost Lens for Understanding Faculty Decision-Making in the Biology Classroom
We used expectancy-value-cost theory to understand how personal, departmental and institutional characteristics impact decisions to implement an evidenced-based classroom intervention using a nationally representative sample of biology faculty. SEM analyses indicate expectancies, value, and cost differentially relate to the motivational pathway to implement based upon these key demographic variables.
