Preliminary Evidence for Intergroup Bias As a Novel Mechanism Linking Childhood Violence Exposure with Psychopathology
Identifying with social in-groups is crucial for socio-emotional wellbeing. Some early experiences may upend these protective biases. In this longitudinal study, we explore behavioral and neural indices of implicit intergroup bias as a novel mechanism linking childhood violence exposure with internalizing problems. Our findings lend preliminary support for this model.
