Ideological Angst: How the Fear of Becoming a Political Minority Drives Anti-Democratic Behavior

Virtual

Oral · Political Psychology

What explains the rise of anti-democratic behavior on the political right? We find that people generally see society as becoming more liberal over time. For liberals, this creates feelings of growth, but for conservatives it creates a sense of existential threat. This threat, in turn, drives support for anti-democratic behavior.
