The Multiple Meanings of the Gender-Inclusive Pronoun Hen: Predicting Attitudes and Use

Virtual

Oral · Linguistics

Three studies show that attitudes to and use of a gender-inclusive pronoun differ depending on if it is referred to in a generic (practical) or specific, non-binary, meaning. Attitudes and use in the generic meaning are related to preference for linguistic status quo, while specific meaning is related to cis-genderism.
