Beauty and Ambiguity: Japan–Germany Cross Cultural Comparison on Aesthetic Evaluation of Haiku Poetry

Virtual

Oral · Cognitive Psychology

As the ambiguity of the meaning of the haiku poetry increased, the aesthetic evaluation of the haiku decreased. There was an interaction with culture, and the Japanese evaluated the haiku more highly than the Germans when the ambiguity was high. This result can be explained by high/low context theory.
